Automatic Advancement Scheme (AAS) – Service-Based Promotions

The Automatic Advancement Scheme (AAS) provides career progression to government employees who have completed long years of service without promotion.

📜 G.O.Ms.No.117, Fin & Plg (FW PRC-I) Dept., Dt. 25.05.1981, introduced this scheme.
Later updates were issued in:

  • G.O.Ms.No.68, Fin (HRM-V) Dept., Dt. 12.06.2015

  • G.O.Ms.No.65, Fin (HRM-V-PC) Dept., Dt. 17.06.2021 (Revised AAS 2020)

Under this scheme:

  • Employees are eligible for Special Grade Scale after 6 years,

  • Special Promotion Post Scale after 12 years,

  • Special Adhoc Promotion Post Scale after 18 years,

  • Automatic Promotion Post Scale after 24 years.

Eligibility Conditions:

  • Must have completed the required service in the same cadre.

  • Must not have refused promotion or taken reversion on personal request.

  • Must have a good record and no disciplinary action.
